 · Caldea ·

Less than ten minutes from the hotel

Palarine lies Caldea, Europe's largest health spa. caldea offers 6000 square meters of inside and outside lagoons, saunas, jacuzzis, a grapefruit pool, an Aztecian pool, Indo-Roman baths, cascades, bubble beds, warm marble slates, and much much more.

Imagine a place where everything is light and space, where you can forget fatigue, stress and routine... a new and unique spa where, throughout the year, you will find peace and calm in the beneficial effects of thermal water. A haven to retreat to, dedicated to rest, getting back in shape, health and beauty.

Caldea uses the water which emerges from the thermal source in Escaldes-Engordany at 68º C to create a harmonious interrelation between the body and water in futuristic surroundings. In ancient Catalan, the word 'caldea' means tonifying and warm.

In Roman times, the word 'calidae', from which the name of the town of Escaldes in Andorra originates, designated a warm water source. Two thousand years later, Caldea offers you a new form of well-being and enjoyment, an encounter with water in all its possible forms, from steam to ice, from Japan to Finland...

Church of Sant Climent

  • Originally 12th century Romanesque, the Lombard bell tower from this period is notable and one of the most interesting in Andorra, being the only one to have double twinned windows.

  • Some structural alterations of the 17th and 19th centuries can be noted in the Església de Sant Climent, such as the porch and part of the nave.

  • The church keeps a 13th century image of Our Lady of the Remedies, a retable dated from 1709, two polychrome wooden crosses and two fonts, one for christenings in the nave and the other for oil in the sacristy.

  • Opening hours: July and August, 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 7 pm; September to June, only for masses.
  •

    Church of Saint Christopher, Anyòs

  • The Església de Sant Cristòfol is an originally Romanesque building altered in the 16th century, and it has a bell tower at the back.

  • Inside there are frescoes of two different periods: the Last Supper in the hemicycle of the apse dates back to the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th centuries; those of Saint Christopher and the Psychostasis (the weighing of the souls) are a 16th century addition.

  • The only fragment remaining of the 12th century Romanesque paintings (a Virgin flanked by two saints) is in a private collection in Madrid.

  • There is also a 16th century retable dedicated to the patron saint of the church.

  • Saint Anthony Bridge, El Serrat

  • The Pont de Sant Antoni, built on the old road connecting Ordino and Andorra la Vella, is mediaeval.

  • About 150 metres upstream from the bridge, there is the Església de Sant Antoni de la Grella, originally of Romanesque design, but restored in the 1940s because of the work on the tunnels of the main road
