France's premier ice-racing series stages its third race of the season at Pas de la Casa, one of Andorra's most modern resorts.
A glamorous and spectacular event, the Andros Trophy has been running since 1990. Attracting big name drivers and manufacturers, it consists of seven races in mountain resorts, with a grand finale pitting the leaders against each other.
The ice track on which the race is run is prepared weeks in advance, being ritually sprayed with water to ensure an even and stable coating of ice. However, the often capricious weather conditions make for exciting viewing when ice melts or forms. The race itself is fought in two categories, Elite and Promotion, each of which are split into two heats. Driver and co-pilot teams are divided into two groups for both heats and finals, guaranteeing more races for onlookers. The winning team is the one with the most points after the finals.
San Miguel Snowbike Championship

Competitors in this mountainbike downhill negotiate the steep slopes in extreme conditions of snow and ice.
The event is recognised by the International Cycling Association. Cyclists often reach speeds in excess of 90 kilometres per hour and must descend as rapidly as possible. The sport of snowbiking is relatively new as far as extreme sports go, and this particular event is held to be the definitive competition in Europe.

Mar 2010 (annual)Snow Running tournament sees competitors from France, Italy, Switzerland and Andorra racing against each other on a 13-and-a-half kilometre circuit.
The event is subtitled the European Snowshoe Cup.
The San Miguel Snowtop competition is a gruelling mountaineering event that mixes personal challenge with high-level skiing at Soldeu.
Run as an Everest expedition, competitors have to set up a base camp before taking to the slopes and ascending the Pic d'Encampadana on cross-country skis, then overcoming a vertical drop of 8848 metres, the height of Mount Everest.

Teams have up to 14 hours to cover Mt Everest's height, with a total of 21 ascents, each with 422 metres of vertical drop. The winner receives €4000 prize money and all entrants who complete the course are awarded an Everest Summiteers diploma.
